Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor of Public Budgeting and Finance in the School of Public Policy at the University of Connecticut.
My research examines how policymakers allocate fiscal resources to improve government performance and accountability. I study policymakers’ institutional and political constraints in the budgeting process, how environmental shocks such as natural disasters shape their fiscal decisions, and how policymakers communicate fiscal information to citizens. My research approach features the dialogue with classical theories of bureaucratic politics and public organizations and the application of causal inference methods. I have published in the National Tax Journal, Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, and Public Administration Review, among other peer-reviewed journals.
In 2018, I earned my Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Kentucky, USA. I also obtained a Master of Public Policy from the Martin School.
